We make memories in special places with the people we love. On occasion, a client supplies fabric of personal significance. The picture becomes a remembrance of a family member and a keepsake to enjoy and pass along. This kind of commissioned work can have deep meaning, both for the client and for myself through the creative effort.
In this commission, delicate fabrics from saris belonging to the client's mother were used to create this imagining of a garden, planned but never planted.

NEW OPPORTUNITY
Open Studio
Last year. I challenged myself to create 150 pictures of different sizes in celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary. I placed a Canadian symbol in each work in the series. Some pieces are still available in my studio.

"Beauty is everywhere - in the grand view and in the detail. Consider a glorious sunset at twilight, the sparkle and movement of a waterfall, the velvet texture of a flower petal. When we take time to look at what lies around us, we each begin to appreciate with an artist's eye."

I am proud to share purchased examples of my recent work. I create works in many sizes, and I complete commissioned pieces from photographs. The images here are uniform in size for display on the web.
My passions and concerns often come out in my art. An example is this picture.
Picture titled 'VOTE - Do You Exercise Your Franchise?'
If everyone said, “My vote won’t change a thing,” then there would be 0 percent voter turnout … no purpose for an election. In 1867, between August 7 and September 20, an impressive 73 percent of the citizens voted to ratify the beginning of Canada. Can you imagine how difficult it was to get to the polling station in those days?
The highest voting turnout ever recorded was 79 percent in three elections between the late 1950s and early 1960s. The lowest was in 2008 when only 58.8 percent voted. Why?
Your vote counts, as does mine. With each election we have the opportunity to demonstrate the care we hold for our Canada “True North Strong and Free”.
